Deep, tender, and tinged with tragedy, Number the Stars takes place in Denmark during World War II as Jewish citizens are being mysteriously “relocated.” The story follows Annemarie Johansen and her family as they endeavor to save their Jewish friends, the Rosens. Though Annemarie and Ellen Rosen are only ten years old, the girls show true courage, character, and willingness to take ownership of their situations.
